Geto is a hiker’s inn that acts as a threshold for humans to pass on their way into the non-human world, like passing through the front door of the forest. When you take off your shoes at a threshold, it is a sign of respect and a keen awareness of stepping into someone’s home. The host that greets you at this threshold is moss. It asks that you slow your pace, focus your attention, and cleanse your body before embarking into the forest.
